Introducing Dixie Trash… a band for the masses. It seems that everywhere Dixie Trash goes, people have fun, hangovers and cigarette burns. The music is simple and the message is clear.. it’s all about the heart and soul of rock and roll. Dixie Trash’s sound comes from a variety of influences like The Stooges, DMZ, MC5, Motorhead, Thin Lizzy, Van Halen and too many punk bands to mention. Dixie Trash consists of singer Jackson Rouse (ex – The Revealers), bassist Kevin Hennesy (ex – Los Luchadoras), guitarist Tom Coney (ex – Long Gones), guitarist Kevin Apgar (ex – Cry Baby Killers) and last but not least drummer Bones (ex – Shoot the Gift). The band has only been together about a year and is already pulling in crowds. The band plays about 4 times a month in Cincinnati area clubs such as Sudsy Malones, Top Cats, The Southgate House, Buzz, Bogart’s, and Peel’s Palace as well as playing in Toronto Canada at The Elmacombo.
The music is just what everyone wants in a live band… fast, furious and in your face. The band has opened for a variety of national touring acts such as Unsane, Hi Fi and the Roadburners, The 357’s, Motorhead, Nashville Pussy, L7, and the Hookers. It hasn’t taken the band long to get noticed. Most local punk, rockabilly, hardcore and rock bands want to play with them because of the intense crowds that come to sweat and get drunk.
The band has recorded two demos, one at Ultrasuede (owned by the Afghan Whigs) and one by the basement recording king himself, Andy Slob. Andy has recorded such acts as the Candy Snatcers, Nashville Pussy, The B-Movie Rats, and the Long Gones.
At this time, Dixie Trash plans to record again in early December 1999 and will be releasing a full length CD and possibly appearing on a compilation or two. The band is going to be playing a lot of out-of-town shows, so look for them soon and be ready to sweat, get drunk and shake your ass.
Even if you don’t want to, you won’t be able to resist once Dixie Trash hits that first chord of their loud, raunchy and exciting brand of whiskey drinkin’ punk rock.
